Izabela, Brazil
Meet Izabela, a Grade 9 student from Brazil, as she shares her inspiring journey of independence, resilience, and personal growth at William Academy.
Moving to Canada at just 14 years old was a big step, but Izabela quickly found a welcoming community that helped her feel at home. With the guidance of caring teachers, counselors, and residence staff, she gained the confidence to adapt to a new culture, become more independent, and embrace life as an international student. Her involvement in Student Council and the volleyball program allowed her to build lasting friendships, develop leadership skills, and become an active member of the school community.
Living in residence and studying in the safe, welcoming town of Cobourg gave Izabela the freedom to grow both personally and academically. From exploring the community with friends to participating in school events and athletics, she created unforgettable memories while achieving two of her biggest dreams: studying abroad and continuing to play the sport she loves.
Izabela's story is a wonderful example of how William Academy empowers students to step outside their comfort zones, build confidence, and discover their full potential in a supportive and caring international community.
